BECOME A DOCENT

 

Would you like to expand your knowledge, make new friends and have fun sharing your love of art and culture? Become a docent at Pacific Asia Museum!

New docent training occurs every other year and this year will begin every Tuesday from September 15, 2009 through January 12, 2010. Trainees are given the week of Thanksgiving and the entire month of December for a holiday break.

Each Tuesday session takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and begins with an illustrated lecture from a wide range of distinguished speakers. During the afternoons, prospective docents familiarize themselves with Pacific Asia Museum’s collection, conduct research and interact with the mentors assigned to each trainee. Upon completing the formal training, participants will continue to develop their touring techniques and observe current docents. Thereafter, new docents will be ready to lead tours as part of the Museum’s extremely popular docent tour program.
