Poetry Tour
July 31, 2010, 2pm
Did you know Pacific Asia Museum's cell-phone Poetry Tour received a MUSE award from the American Association of Museums? You can enjoy its innovative blend of art and technology anytime you want, but today is the day to celebrate with live performances of the poetry and music featured on the recorded tour.
Remember, the tour is also available over the phone anytime, anywhere, by calling (626) 628-9690 – the easiest way to listen when you are at the museum. There is no cost except your cell minutes; each recording is about 1-2 minutes. You can stay on the line – enter a new item number anytime - or hang up and call back. Choose item number 0# to leave your own message.
The first recordings were created in partnership with Poets on Site, who derived inspiration from the museum and its collection. The museum’s mission is to “promote intercultural understanding through the arts”, and these written works of art are a unique way to gain additional perspective on the art, architecture and gardens of Pacific Asia Museum. Check back as we add family-friendly stories, in-depth information, artists’ voices, and curatorial expertise.
Thanks to the talented poets of Poets on Site, organized by Kathabela Wilson. Xiao flute by Rick Wilson, recorded by Julian Bermudez and John Rabe. Funded in part by the Jeanne Ward Foundation and Katherine Audrey Webb Foundation.
