Donor Profile: Robert Sheen
Robert Sunghyuk Sheen has been involved with Pacific Asia Museum for just seven years, but in that brief time he has proven to be a dynamic and industrious leader, committed to helping the museum expand its reach through vigorous fundraising activities.
Born in Seoul, Korea in 1966, Robert’s family moved to the United States in 1977. He received a degree in Business from the University of Southern California in 1989 and attended Loyola Law School, where he became a Juris Doctor in 1994.
He is a member of the Pacific Asia Museum Board of Trustees as well as President of First Capitol Consulting, Inc. in Los Angeles. Before joining First Capitol, Robert successfully implemented several major high profile corporate reorganizations and implemented tax products and strategies for banks and multi-national corporations.
In addition to his work with the museum, Robert has shown his commitment to serving the community by founding the Korean American Voter Registration Foundation, and was given the “Pioneer Award” for his contribution to the Korean American Democratic Committee, for which he currently chairs the finance committee. He is a founder, organizer and vice chairman of U.S. Metro Bank, a board member of Rock The Vote, a national advisory board member of Asian American Justice Center, and a past president of the Korean American Bar Association. In 2003 Robert was chosen as one of “The Men of L.A.” by The Women’s Foundation. He is a member of the California State Bar, Los Angeles County Bar Association, American Bar Association and The Breakfast Club. Not just civic and culturally minded, Robert’s hobbies include dressage, mountain biking, and scuba diving. Robert also worked as a professional model under the name “Sung Sheen” with Ford Models in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States. The late photographer Herb Ritts photographed Robert for several major fashion ad campaigns.
His warm personality and lively sense of humor have added enormously to the success of his efforts in support of the Campaign for the Future, and his talents as emcee at previous Festival of the Autumn Moon celebrations have added an entertaining element to the event. Robert’s leadership is greatly appreciated by the trustees, staff, and the entire museum family.
