USC Pacific Asia Museum
Pasadena, California 91101
Open Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 6pm

DIRECTOR'S WELCOME
Greetings,
We are getting ready to give our historical building a stronger foundation and a fresher look. Built in 1924, our Chinese-palace inspired building is a California State Historical Landmark and on the National Registry of Historical Places. To better protect this treasure and more than 17,000 significant works of art housed inside, we will be closing our museum for a short time starting late June to do seismic retrofitting.
During this time, as we reinforce the Museum's physical foundation, we will also use this opportunity to deepen our understanding of our collection, and strengthen our connections to you. The curatorial department will conduct a permanent collection survey, which will allow us to conceive of new exhibitions and programs to highlight the important works in our care. Through events in the community and exhibitions on the USC campus, we will come directly to you with the kinds of thoughtful experiences about Asian and Pacific art and culture that you appreciate.
Before then Royal Taste: The Arts of Princely Courts in 15th Century China will continue to be on view until June 26th. Stay tuned for more details about the closure and please enjoy the USC PAM until then!
Kind regards,
Christina Yu Yu, PhD
USC Pacific Asia Museum Director
