Pacific Asia Museum
Pasadena, California 91101
Open Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 6pm
Since 1971, Pacific Asia Museum has advanced intercultural understanding through the arts of Asia and the Pacific Islands. In today’s increasingly global world, intercultural understanding is ever more necessary and Pacific Asia Museum plays an important role in bringing together people of all ages and cultural backgrounds in the 21st century.
Pacific Asia Museum has something for everyone. The landmark building and garden faithfully reflect a kind of northern Chinese, palace-style architecture found nowhere else in the United States. The outstanding permanent collection of more than 15,000 works of art tells compelling stories about the lives of people across Asia and the Pacific region, from ancient times to today. These human stories are explored even more deeply in the museum’s exciting schedule of special exhibitions and public programs, so there is always something new to experience, satisfying a wide range of interests.
Life is busy. The museum recognizes that everyone faces numerous demands for their time and resources. So we are extremely grateful for every visitor and strive to provide a distinctive, dynamic experience that is simultaneously enriching and enjoyable. If you have never visited Pacific Asia Museum before, we hope you will give us a try. If you have visited previously, we hope you will become a member and come back again and again. Museums are multi-faceted things. They are buildings. They are objects. But most of all, they are communities. Pacific Asia Museum began as a community organization and still believes that bringing people of diverse backgrounds together for mutual understanding serves a greater good. We welcome you to join our community and become part of this greater good.
