I am so pleased to be a part of a new and exciting era for USC Pacific Asia Museum. The opportunity to lead this very special museum and enhance its place in the Southern California art community is a tremendous honor. There are endless opportunities and I look forward to introducing exceptional exhibitions and programs to advance the museum's mission.
In setting the course for the museum, I will seek input from many sources—the museum staff members, our university partners and our community partners as well. All of this will serve to guide the work of the museum over the coming year.
I look forward to getting to know our art collections, too. Among my highest priorities will be recruiting and hiring our curator, whose vision will help the selection and direction of both our upcoming exhibitions and our collecting practice.
I am especially delighted to have a chance to collaborate with USC's faculty, institutes and departments focused on Asian cultures and history. USC's strong, established connections with Asia and the Pacific Rim will strengthen the museum as an asset to the local and global community.
Many thanks to Selma Holo, PhD, director of USC Fisher Museum of Art, for her guidance of the museum as interim director and her professional support as I take on this new role. In the coming weeks and months I look forward to meeting many of you—friends and supporters of the museum—and hearing your ideas for shaping the future of USC Pacific Asia Museum.
The year ahead promises to be full of new exhibitions, projects, events and initiatives. It is a promising time for the USC Pacific Asia Museum!
