Public Programming Internship

 

This internship will help to develop public programming working closely with museum staff, and will also provide the opportunity to gain teaching experience. The internship is 40 hours/week for ten weeks, and the intern reports directly to the Head of Education and Public Programs. Responsibilities include working with education staff to plan, coordinate, and execute public programming, such as drop-in art activities and exhibition-related programs, to help develop activities for families that embody the Museum's themes and mission, to help out at programs such as Free 2nd Sundays, Cultural Festivals, evening adult programs and special events, and to work closely with docents and volunteers.

Qualifications:
· Undergraduate or graduate student, preferably with background or interest in museum studies, visual art, or cultural studies
· Ability to work well with families and visitors of all ages and backgrounds
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, multisensory environment
· Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate effectively with others
· Active interest in cross-cultural programming
· Availability to work one Saturday or Sunday per week (and on occasion both days), and select evenings
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel
· Fluency in a foreign language is a plus
