 May 14, 2010 - Series Premiere!!
Bhangra Night: India and Pakistan
7:30 – 10:30pm

In celebration of India and Pakistan with Bhangra DJ music, dance performances, mehndi and a miniature art project. Drinks in the courtyard and food from the Sweets Truck and the Frysmith Truck!
Featuring two exhibitions: Beyond the Page: The Miniature as Attitude in Contemporary Art from Pakistan and Indian Miniature Paintings and Drawings.

 June 18, 2010 – Japan
7:30 – 10:30pm

In celebration of Japan with Samurai, Sake tasting and Sumi-e. DJ Tony Cheung spinning in the courtyard, Samurai battle demonstrations in the auditorium and Japanese Calligraphy lessons in the foyer. Drinks in the courtyard and food from the Buttermilk Truck and the Mandoline Truck. Featuring the exhibition: Japan in Blue and White.

 July 23, 2010- Thailand
7:30 – 10:30pm

In celebration of Thailand and the exhibition Visualizing Faith: Buddhist Art in Thailand Including live DJ music by Tony Cheung spinning Thai music in the courtyard, food tastings and a fruit carving demonstration by Chef Robert Danhi, a unique Thai-inspired gold paper craft, as well as a one-of-a-kind group mural project designed by artist Peter Tigler. Featuring two of the city's most popular gourmet food trucks: The Frysmith Truck and the Dumpling Station Truck. Cocktail attire or Asian Fusion dress is encouraged.

 August 27, 2010 – Series Finale
An Evening in 1930s Shanghai!

In support of the community projects of APEX and the Pacific Asia Museum, presenting a unique evening reception inspired by the spirit and glamour of 1930s Shanghai. Come dressed the part, whether it's cocktail, business, or formal Asian attire and get ready to mingle with LA's finest.

This event is in celebration of the exhibition: China Modern: Designing Popular Culture 1910 – 1970. Featuring: complimentary wine, beer and cocktail reception sponsored by Carnivo XO and Pacific Asia Museum, live jazz music from the Ark Sano Quintet, DJ Tony Cheung and DJ Yuki spinning music from the 1930s to today, gourmet food trucks on site, strolling fashion show and raffle prizes.

Jonathan S. Bell, a heritage professional with years of experience in China and Andrew Freund, Director of USA Sumo. The evening will feature a live sumo performance by elite- level sumo wrestlers, including the three-time World Sumo Champion.

Curating Culture with 'Giant Robot' and Chinese Americans in Hollywood.
'Giant Robot' has chosen to document and promote the obscure, the underdog, and the forgotten. Co-founder and editor Martin Wong will share some of his favorite features, perhaps but not necessarily including Yellow Panthers, Chinese Jamaicans, Hong Kong boy bands, school lunches, and dogs.

SOUL'D OUT with Gotham Chopra & Mao's image in Chinese Contemporary Art with Eliot Kiang.

Eliot Kiang is the owner of the Morono Kiang Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in the Bradbury Building in Downtown Los Angeles. Kiang's talk will especially focus on Mao and how Mao has become an icon in today's modern China.

Deepak Chopra is known as a spiritual counselor to millions around the world. To others he's a prophet for profit. To his film-maker son Gotham, he's none of the above, so what is he? Come get a glimpse of the answer when Gotham presents an excerpt of his in-progress documentary film SOUL'D OUT. .

We'll wrap up Pasadena's most innovative new lecture series with a signature pairing of intriguing speakers and unexpected discoveries. Series returns in October.

Joe Rhode, Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering will discuss the creation of the thrill ride "Expedition Everest". An attraction, while ostensibly a thrill ride, conveys such a convincing and detailed portrayal of Himalayan culture that it has been used as an educational tool for the real Nepal.

Ewan Chung and Charles Kim are co-producers and performers in the award-winning sketch comedy troupe OPM (Opening People's Minds). They will discuss sketch comedy as a tool for storytelling and political activism, as well as their thoughts on the role of Asian-American artists vis-à-vis mainstream media.
