Lecture/Demo: Korean Folk Painting
Keesoon Sung, president of the Korean Folk Painting Association, speaks on the history and current practice of this art form, and gives a live demonstration of its techniques.  In Korean and English.

Zahid Hussain will discuss and sign Frontline Pakistan: The Struggle with Militant Islam and The Scorpion's Tail: the Relentless Rise of Islamic Militants in Pakistan.
Internationally acclaimed reporter Zahid Hussain serves as senior editor with Newsline and correspondent for The Times of London, The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. He covers Pakistan and Afghanistan for international publications such as the Associated Press and The Economist. The program is generously co-sponsored by the museum's Pakistan Arts Council.

The innovative lecture series wraps with a final dynamic pairing: Artist Richard Jackson talks firsthand about the Pasadena art scene of the 1960s, and architect Andrew Liang discusses the unprecedented speed and scale of urbanization in China.

Lyn Kienholz author of L.A. Rising: SoCal Artists Before 1980 in conversation with Special Guests who were influential in the history and development of the Pasadena Art Museum

With over 900 color and black and white images of work by almost 500 artists, L.A. Rising is the first comprehensive pictorial showcase of the diverse universe of artists working in the Los Angeles area during the formative period of L.A.'s art history. The programs are presented in conjunction with the museum's current exhibition, 46 N. Los Robles: A History of the Pasadena Art Museum.

Concert: Southwest Chamber Orchestra
In 1965 Pasadena Art Museum’s series of composer talks, Encounters, featured a legendary evening with John Cage.  As part of their Cage 2012 celebration of his centennial, Southwest Chamber Music performs the composer’s works in the space where he spoke almost 50 years ago.
