Bring your Students!
Guided school visits at USC Pacific Asia Museum usually last two hours and consist of an hour-long guided tour of the museum's galleries, led by a docent, and an hour-long art making workshop, led by a local artist. Workshop options include calligraphy, poetry, origami, drawing pagodas, mythological creatures, storytelling, drawing animals, and brush painting. School visits are offered Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am until noon, can accommodate up to 60 students, and must be booked at least four weeks in advance. In addition we also require that there be 1 adult chaperone per every 10 students in attendance. Visits for accredited schools grades 3–12 are available at no cost. Schools are responsible, however, for arranging and paying for transportation to and from the museum.
Each year USC Pacific Asia Museum offers a limited amount of transportation scholarships for Title I schools. Unfortunately, all available scholarships for the 2013–2014 school year have already been awarded. Please check back in the summer of 2014 for scholarships for the 2014–2015 school year. They will be awarded on a first-requested, first-granted basis.
Reserve your date for a visit now—space goes quickly! January through March2014 are currently completely booked; dates are still available for visits in April through June 2014. For more information or to reserve a tour, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 626-449-2742 ext. 23.
Bring your Group!
Groups of 10 or more may take advantage of our special $7 per person group admission rate. Groups may schedule hour-long docent-led tours for up to 60 people any time the museum is open, pending docent availability. Tours are available free with the cost of admission, but must be booked at least four weeks in advance. Private group tours are not available on Free Fourth Fridays, although you may opt to participate in one of our public tours offered on those days.
If your group visit is self-guided and you will be exploring the museum without a docent, we ask that you still make a reservation. This helps ensure no other large groups are scheduled at the same time, possibly interfering with your group’s enjoyment of the museum.
