Cricket in a Cage

Golden cricket ~

I have seen you

in the dewy grass

or on a warm rock

where the sun dried your wings

Sadness fills me

seeing you now

caged for all time

as entertainment

for princes

Autumn gloom
disperses
pierced by bowed melodies
crying freedom.
My Jiao Ge-Ge
have jumped and scattered
out of their cricket cages
and my grasp.

Their emancipator,
my child,
giggles in the corner.
