 Student Films:

As part of the public programming for The Samurai Re-Imagined: from Ukiyo to Anime, local animation students were invited to submit short films inspired by their experiences at Pacific Asia Museum.  The top three films, selected by a panel of professional animators, critics, and historians, are posted here for all to enjoy.

Confucius: Shaping Values Through Art explored how Confucian values have permeated East Asian culture. It utilized the Museum’s own collection as a case study.

Lotus Moon: The Art of Otagaki Rengetsu
February 8 – May 11, 2008
Lotus Moon: The Art of Otagaki Rengetsu featured paintings, poetry cards and ceramic vessels by the Buddhist nun; one of Japan’s most celebrated artists. Rengetsu was admired for her exquisite calligraphy, poetry and ceramic vessels.
